Amherst Men’s Golf Ties for Sixth on Day One

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. – Amherst Men's Golf finished day one at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier tied for sixth with Bowdoin College at the Lyman Orchards Golf Club Saturday afternoon.

The Mammoths finished with a combined score of 314 through their first 18 holes of the tournament. Cameron Clark '20 led Amherst by carding a 74 on Saturday which placed him tied for 10th overall. Jack Burlison '19 and Jeffrey Herr '20 both followed up Clark with a day one score of 79. Will Lonnquist '20 and Nicholas Kumamoto '20 both sat three strokes behind Herr and Burlison with an 82 mark.

The Qualifier's individual leader after the first day is Trinity senior Will Rosenfield who carded a three-under-par for a 69 overall, followed closely by Hamilton freshman Milan Matneja and Middlebury senior Reid Buzby who both shot 71 and are tied for second

Action continues Sunday as the first wave of players tee off at 10:44 a.m. The top four teams at the end of the qualifying tournament will advance to the NESCAC Championship in the spring, to be held at the site of the qualifier winner. Additionally, the top four individual golfers outside of the qualifying teams will be eligible to play in the championship
