Kelly Earns NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – After a standout performance in Amherst's 24-10 win over Colby, junior defensive lineman Joe Kelly has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Defensive Player of the Week, announced Sunday morning by the conference office.

Kelly posted five solo tackles and had a sack for a loss of ten yards to keep Colby from putting together a scoring drive in the fourth quarter. He also had three tackles for loss and two pass breakups in the win for the Mammoths (2-0).

On the second play of the third quarter, Kelly forced and recovered a fumble to set the Mammoths up at midfield.

Kelly will lead the defensive unit back on the road next week when the Mammoths travel to Tufts University for a 1:00 PM kickoff in Medford.
