Wellness, Lifetime Fitness and Recreational opportunities are provided by the Department of Athletics and are open to all Amherst College students and members of the college community.  The program is flexible, robust, and designed to meet the needs and interests of individuals. There are a variety of offerings that provide fitness and well-being opportunities for the entire community. Recreational fitness opportunities are available based on facility hours and season.

Wellness & Fitness

Wellness & Fitness Classes are offered throughout each semester on a drop-in basis. These classes include but are not limited to Yoga, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais ATM, Pilates, PIYO and Zumba.

Zumba classes for the remainder of Spring 2019 will be as follows: Tues. April 23rd, Thurs. April 25th, Tues. April 30th, Thurs. May 2nd, Tues. May 7th & Thurs. May 9th.

Lifetime Sports:  Lifetime Sports classes are offered each semester in two sessions (5-6 weeks each). 


Unit IV classes will begin on Monday, March 18 and run through April 19. Registration is currently open.


*Feet Fitness - Classes will meet in Alumni Gym on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:45 - 4:30pm.

*Beginning Swimming - Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 - 9:00am (classes start Tuesday, March 26).

*Advanced Squash (3.5 rating) - Classes will meet Tuesdays 12:00 - 1:00pm and Fridays 1:00 - 2:00pm.

*Indoor Cycling - Classes will be held in the Friends Room of Alumni Gym on Wednesdays, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

*Small Sided Soccer - Games will be held in Alumni Gym on Fridays, 3:00 - 4:30pm.

The recreational program, which includes skating, squash, swimming and tennis and is available to all members of the Amherst College community. These opportunities vary based on the season and specific facility hours.
