Cross Country Programs Honored By USTFCCCA with Team and Individual All-Academic Accolades The Amherst College men's & women's cross country programs and eight individual team members were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with academic accolades for their performances in the classroom and on the trails in 2019.
NESCAC Announces Fall 2019 All-Academic, All-Sportsmanship Teams HADLEY, Mass. – Sixty-six Amherst College student-athletes were named to the 2019 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Fall All-Academic team on Tuesday morning for their success in the classroom, while eight Mammoths were recognized for their dedication to sportsmanship and named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Two All-Region Performances Headline Women's XC's 8th Place Finish Four Mammoths set new personal bests and two claimed All-Region honors as the Amherst College women’s cross country team posted a 23-26-42-89-91-(96)-(107) scoring order and a team 6K mark of 22:42 to improve upon their 13th place finish last season and take eighth overall at the 54-team 2019 New England Championships hosted by Bowdoin College at Pickard Fields.
Two Top-25 Finishes Highlight Women's XC at NESCAC Championships Improving one spot from last year’s finish, the Amherst College women's cross country team registered a team 6K time of 23:40.8 and a 23-24-32-43-49-(55)-(60) scoring order to earn a competitive seventh place finish – just 10 points out of fifth – at the 2019 NESCAC Championships while donning its championship season white uniforms Saturday afternoon.
NESCAC Preview: Women's Cross Country Readies for Conference Meet Ranked No. 10 in the New England Region in the latest USTFCCCA Poll, the Amherst College women's cross country team is set to travel to Williamstown, Mass. this Saturday, Nov. 2 to compete in the 2019 NESCAC Championships hosted by Williams College. Competitors in the 36th installment of the annual conference meet will hit the trails at Mount Greylock High School, with the women's six-kilometer race scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Women's XC Takes 11th Overall In Final Tune Up Before NESCACs Competing at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial Park, the Amherst College women’s cross country team compiled an average team 6K time of 22:59 and posted a 27-62-74-83-91(102)(159) scoring order to finish 11th overall at the 365-harrier, 29-team meet.
Gayer, Wolmer Land Inside Top-80, Mammoths Impress at 46th Annual Paul Short Run Competing against 20 DI, nine DIII and 18 DIII programs in Brown Division of the 46th annual Paul Short Run presented by Asics at Lehigh University, the Amherst College women’s cross country team claimed a team average 6K time of 22:41 and posted a 21-76-116-167-175(252) scoring order to finish 20th overall in the 44-squad race.
