Roberts Takes DIII Title, Paces Amherst to 4th Place Finish at Paul Short Classic

BETHLEHAM, Pa. – Nicky Roberts '18 was the second overall runner across the finish line and claimed the individual D3 title at the Paul Short Classic brown division 6K race to lead the Amherst College women's cross country team to a fourth place finish (162 points) at the 44th annual run presented by Asics at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.

A combined race with competitors across Division I, II and III, the final scoring was seperated between DI and non-DI teams and individual student-athletes.

MAMMOTHS SCORING RUNNERS

  • Pacing the Mammoths, Roberts ran a 5:36 average mile time to clock a 20:54 overall mark and finish second in the 167-competitor race.  
  • Securing a 25th place finish, Kristin Ratliff '20 recorded a 22:29 mark, while Sarah Gayer '21 crossed the finish line in 22:57 to place 43rd overall.
  • With a time of 22:59, Olivia Polischeck '21 clinched 45th overall, while Lizzie Lacy '19 rounded out Amherst's scoring runners with a 23:03 mark (48th).

The Mammoths return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they travel to Westfield State to compete at the James Earley Invitational.
