Women's Cross Country Wraps Up Competition at the James Early Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Amherst College women's cross country team sent four harriers to Westfield State University to represent the Purple & White in the 459-runner James Early 5k Invitational Saturday afternoon.  

With a time of 24:33.73, junior Monica Nimmagadda posted an 88th place finish to lead the Purple & White.

Next to cross the finish line was Kristin Ratliff '20 who ran to an 122nd place finish with a 25:03.23 mark. Not far behind Ratliff was teammate Kathryn McHenry '17 who notched a time of 25:20.63 to secure 148th overall.

First-year Amy Pass rounded out Amherst runners at the invitational, registering a mark of 27:00.35 (277th overall) in the 5k run.

MEET NOTES

  • The University of New England claimed the team title with a score of 65, while Tufts University placed second overall with 84 points. Keene State rounded out the top-three teams, logging 208 points to finish third.
  • Jess Cardin of Westfield State crossed the finish line in 21:26.8 to earn the individual title, while Brandeis University's Emily Bryson placed second overall with a 21:49.0 mark. Michelle Lujan of Saint Rose rounded out the top-three individuals with a time of 22:03.2.
