Volleyball Sweeps Wildcat Invitational, Posts Two Wins Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Amherst College women's volleyball swept it's dual match Saturday against Salve Regina and Johnson & Wales by scores of 3-0 and 3-1, respectively, to finish 4-0 at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Johnson & Wales.

The Jeffs (4-0) will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 16 for a road game against Western New England at 7 p.m.

Amherst 3, Salve Regina 0

In the first match Saturday, Amherst was led offensively by Nicole Gould '17 and Kate Bres '17. Gould posted a team-high 10 kills, while Bres dished out 32 assists. Maggie Danner '17, Lizzie Ahern '16, Marialexa Natsis '18 added eight, seven and five kills, respectively.

On the defensive side, Katie Warshaw '16 recorded 15 digs, while Kelci Keeno '17 registered seven.

Amherst 3, Johnson & Wales 1

Wrapping up the two-day tournament, the Jeffs defeated the Wildcats by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 24-26 and 25-18. Danner recorded 16 kills to lead Amherst, while Ahern and Natsis  joined her in double-figures with 10 each. Gould added eight of her own, and Nicole Carter '16 dished out a team-high 38 assists and recorded two service aces.

Defensively, Warshaw led the squad with 12 digs, while Keeno and Hayes Honea '19 tallied nine and eight, respectively. Honea also registered two service aces.
