Jeffs Fall to Williams, 3-0

MEDFORD, Mass. – Maggie Danner '17 led the third-seed Amherst College volleyball team with 12 kills, but second-seed Williams College posted a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) sweep on Saturday afternoon to advance to the NESCAC Tournament final at Tufts University.

With the loss, Amherst (21-7) will await the NCAA Division III Championship selection show on Monday for a possible at-large bid. Williams improves to 24-4 on the season and will take on top-seed and tournament host Tufts University on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m.

In a tightly contested match, Nicole Carter '16 led the Jeffs with 10 assists, while Kate Bres '17 and Katie Warshaw '16 handed out nine and eight helpers each. Warshaw also led the team with 12 digs, while Carter added eight digs. Kelci Keeno '16 registered seven digs in the losing effort, while Nicole Gould '17 and Lizzie Ahern '16 contributed six and five kills respectively.

Williams was paced by Tori Jasuta who finished with a match-high 16 kills. Claire Miller added 11 kills and Raea Rasmussen chipped in seven kills. Catie Benell, Emily O'Day and Jasuta each notched a match-best 13 digs, while Ryan Farley and Miller followed with eight and seven respectively.

Farley led the attack with 36 assists, while Jasuta was stellar from the service line with five aces.
