Jeffs Split with Babson, Clark

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Amherst women's volleyball team earned a split in Saturday's non-conference tri-match action as the Jeffs fell to Babson, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-18), and posted a 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-14) win over host Clark.

With the split, Amherst improves to 9-4 overall. Babson now stands at 14-5 on the season, while Clark sits at 6-7 overall.

Babson 3, Amherst 0

Against Babson, Lizzie Ahern '16 registered a team-high seven kills, followed by five each from Maggie Danner '17 and Nicole Gould '17. Lauren Antion '15 and Marialexa Natsis '18 chipped in four kills each in the losing effort.

Junior libero Katie Warshaw notched a team-best 23 digs, Nicole Carter '16 handed out 15 assists, and Kate Bres '17 added eight helpers. Carter added 11 digs and a pair of service aces.

The Beavers used 12 kills from Mary Donohue, 11 kills from Lorraine Mackiewicz, and 10 from Krissy Robinson to help drive the Babson offensive efforts. Robinson added 21 assists, just one behind Angela Price's 22 helpers.

Kseniya Pulido was stellar in defense with 32 digs.

Amherst 3, Clark 0

The Purple & White rebounded with a 3-0 sweep of Clark, led by a balanced attack of six kills from Danner, and five each from Natsis and Gould.

Bres paved the way with 12 of the Jeffs' 21 assists, while Carter dished out seven to help Amherst hit .393 as a unit. Warshaw posted 11 digs, followed by six from Carter.

Savonnah Rowe led Clark with four kills, Tori Whitney added 10 assists and Mia Cattaneo notched 10 digs in the losing effort.

Amherst returns to NESCAC action on Friday, Oct. 3 when it hosts Middlebury at 8 p.m. at LeFrak Gymnasium.
