AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup against Westfield State by scores 25-7, 25-25 and 25-19.
The Jeffs (11-5) have won three-straight and nine of their last 11 while the Owls dropped to 11-9 overall.
Maggie Danner '17 and Lauren Antion '15 led the team with 13 and 11 kills respectively. Danner hit .481 and tallied nine digs while Antion posted a .375 hitting percentage. Nicole Carter '16 set the tempo offensively and dished out 27 assists while Kate Bres '17 contributed 13 of her own. Carter added 12 digs to complete the double-double.
Westfield State was led by Lindsay Rescott '14 who posted six kills and 11 digs. Defensively, Julia Warner '14 led the squad with 14 digs.
As a team, Amherst hit .328 and held Westfield State to a -.011 attack percentage. The Jeffs also enjoyed a decisive advantage in assists as well with 44 to Westfield State's 14.
The Jeffs return to the court Friday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Middlebury for an 8 p.m. NESCAC contest.
