WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Maggie Danner '17 recorded 13 kills but the Amherst women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Williams Thursday night by the scores of 25-20, 25-16, 16-25, and 25-23.
With the loss, the Jeffs are now 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC. Williams won its ninth-straight match to improve to 12-1, 3-0.
The Jeffs struggled offensively in the first set, only connecting on five kills on 29 attempts. The offense improved as the match went on but it wasn't enough as they finished with a .153 hitting percentage compared to the Ephs' .267.
Leading Amherst on the offensive side were Danner, Nicole Gould '17 and Nicole Carter '16. Danner had a team-high 13 kills, Gould added 11 and Carter dished out 28 assists and picked up 12 digs for the double-double. Katie Warshaw '16 led the team defensively with 19 digs.
Williams was led by Tori Jasuta's '17 game-high 18 kills on .305 hitting as Ryan Farley '16 recorded 37 assists to control the offense.
The Jeffs are back in action on Oct. 4 in a home match against Connecticut College at 8 p.m. and Williams returns to the court Oct. 1 for a 7 p.m. contest against Union (N.Y.).
