Set two was a different story with the same result. Despite just one tie and zero lead changes, the set remained competitive and saw the Lions win by four points to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
Facing a loss, Amherst came out strong in the third set. The Jeffs rallied off five straight points to claim an 8-3 lead and eventually pulled ahead as much as 22-9. Nicole Gould '17 put the set away with one of her team-high 10 kills to give Amherst a 25-14 win.
The Jeffs came out to a 3-2 lead in the fourth set but wouldn't lead again. They retaliated late in the set to trail 19-17 but were outscored 6-4 down the stretch as the Lions pulled away to take the match 3-1.
Offensively, the Jeffs were led by Gould's 10 kills and sophomore Nicole Carter's 25 assists. On the defensive side, Katie Warshaw '16 and Carter recorded 18 and 14 digs respectively.
