Volleyball Earns 3-2 Win Over Keene St.

With the victory, Amherst improved to 10-3 overall on the season, while the Owls fell to 8-6 on the year.MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – First-year Lauren Antion (Los Angeles, Calif.) hit .400 with 10 kills and four service aces as the Amherst women's volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 12-25, 25-15, 15-10) win over Keene St. at Middlebury's Pepin Gym.


After winning the first set 25-20, Amherst dropped the next two frames by scores of 25-19 and 25-12. Hoping to stay alive, the Lord Jeffs registered a .263 attack rate in a 25-15 fourth set triumph before hitting a match-best .333 en route to a 15-10 tiebreak win.

KC Kanoff '12 (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) finished with 12 kills and 15 digs, while fellow senior Cristy Meier (San Anselmo, Calif.) added eight spikes. Sophomores Claire Hoffman (Spokane, Wash.) and Meghan McCafferty (Tyngsboro, Mass.) combined for nine kills, with Hoffman also adding eight digs, while junior setter Callie Neilson (Escondido, Calif.) finished with 41 assists and 10 digs.

Kristin Keeno '13 (Honolulu, Hawaii) once again led Amherst with 22 digs, while sophomore Devin Pence (Los Angeles, Calif.) dug out 10 balls.

Amherst returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 5 against Western New England College.
