Jaclyn DeMais Earns Second NESCAC Player of the Week Honor

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College senior tri-captain Jaclyn DeMais (Hillsdale, NJ) was named the NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week after having one of the best weeks of her illustrious career, as she averaged 6.0 kills and 3.68 digs per game to lead the Lord Jeffs to a 4-1 week. This marks the second time DeMais has been named the conference's Player of the Week in 2007.

DeMais kicked things off with an astounding 35 kills and 27 digs in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Williams College to hand the Ephs their first conference loss and launch Amherst into first place in the NESCAC standings. In day one of the Hall of Fame Classic Tournament, DeMais had 19 kills against Wheaton College for a hitting percentage of .500, and on Saturday hit at a .526 clip against Wellesley College for 22 kills.

DeMais hit at .331 for the week to bring her season percentage up to .322, which is the second highest in the NESCAC. She also holds the conference's second highest kills-per-game average (5.00), and is among the leaders in digs per game (3.73).

The Jeffs are currently atop the NESCAC standings (22-3 overall, 6-1 NESCAC), but Middlebury and Williams each have only one conference loss, making the race to host the upcoming conference tournament too close to call. Amherst returns to action Tuesday for a crucial 7 p.m. match at Trinity College.
