Jeffs Improve to 10-0 with 3-0 Wins Over Muhlenberg, Eastern Conn.

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College rookie Jaclyn DeMais (Hillsdale, NJ) racked up 21 total kills and senior setter Annie Hoeksma (Los Angeles, CA) dished out 63 assists as the undefeated Jeffs improved to 10-0 with a pair of 3-0 victories over Muhlenberg College and Eastern Connecticut State University at the six-team Amherst College Volleyball Classic on Friday night.

Amherst breezed past Muhlenberg 30-18, 30-16 and 30-25 in the opener. Junior outside hitter Nicole Davidson (Los Angeles, CA) bolstered the offense with seven kills to go along with a match-high eight blocks, while junior Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) and sophomore Kristin Quinn (Los Angeles, CA) added six kills apiece. Rookie Julie Berkley (Fullerton, CA) paced the defense with nine digs.

The Jeffs then swept Eastern Conn. 30-28, 30-22 and 30-25 in the nightcap, placing Quinn and DeMais in double figures in kills. Quinn led the way with 11 putaways and 10 blocks, followed by DeMais with 10 kills. Hoeksma added 33 assists, nine digs and five blocks.

The Amherst Volleyball Classic will resume Saturday morning with matches at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
