MIDDLETOWN, CT - After a 30-27, 30-23, 22-30, 30-24 loss to host Wesleyan University on Friday night, the Amherst College volleyball team rebounded to defeat Smith College 25-30, 30-27, 30-25, 30-21 and Trinity College 30-27, 28-30, 30-26, 30-14 on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational. Senior Annie Hoeksma (Los Angeles, CA) and sophomore Kristin Quinn (Los Angeles, CA) earned all-tournament honors as Hoeksma dished out a combined 95 assists, while Quinn posted 45 kills and 18 blocks.
Rookie Jaclyn DeMais (Hillsdale, NJ) and senior co-captain Nikki Davidson (Los Angeles, CA) led the way in the loss to Wesleyan with 10 and nine kills, respectively, while junior Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) posted a team-high 13 digs. However, Quinn exploded on Saturday with a combined 41 kills and 17 blocks in the two wins. Raddock and DeMais had 10 kills each against Smith, and DeMais tallied 13 kills in the victory over Trinity.
Amherst returns to action Friday and Saturday at a NESCAC Quad hosted by Colby College.
