Quinn Named NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College sophomore outside hitter Kristin Quinn (Los Angeles, CA) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Jeffs to a trio of road conference victories over Bowdoin, Bates and Colby Colleges over the weekend. Quinn racked up a combined 42 kills (3.8/gm) and 11 blocks, highlighted by a 23-kill, three-block outing in Saturday's 3-2 win over Colby, as the Jeffs improved to 16-2 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 6-0.

Quinn currently ranks eighth in the nation in blocks per game (1.50) and 15th in hitting percentage (.411). She's also second in the NESCAC in both categories and fifth in kills per game (3.68), and took home Tournament MVP honors at the WNEC Invitational and All-Tournament recognition at the Wesleyan Invitational earlier this season.

As a first-year in 2003, Quinn was tabbed the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) and NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and earned NEWVA Second-Team All-New England honors as well. She finished 10th in the nation in hitting percentage (.420) and 13th in blocks per game (1.52), good for first and second in the NESCAC, respectively.
