Volleyball Downs Wesleyan, Falls to Williams at Little Three Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst College volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon, falling to host Williams College and downing Wesleyan University at the Little Three Championship Tournament. With the split, the Jeffs moved to 19-6 overall while Wesleyan dropped to 21-9 and Williams improved to 29-4.

Amherst opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Williams (30-12, 30-25, 30-18). Junior outside hitter Jessica Allen (Chagrin Falls, OH) paced the Jeffs with seven kills while junior Lauren Wong (San Francisco, CA) and first-year Sara Bruggeman (Boulder, CO) added five apiece.

The Jeffs rebounded to outlast Wesleyan 3-2 in the second match (30-28, 16-30, 20-30, 30-24, 15-13). Allen led Amherst once again with 16 kills, while Bruggeman tacked on 10 to go along with eight blocks. Jeff senior outside hitter Erin Dittus (Brentwood, TN) added eight kills.

Amherst has already secured the third seed in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament and will open against sixth-seeded Tufts University Friday at 8 p.m. at Williams.
