NEW ORLEANS, La. – Senior captain Christina Scartelli and sophomore hurdler Ella Rossa of the Amherst College women's track & field team have been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) outdoor All-Region honorees, as announced recently by the organization.
The top-five individuals in each event from each of Division III's eight regions (Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West) earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-three relay teams.
With a season-best time of 14.48 seconds, Rossa clinched an individual All-New England Region nod in the 100m hurdles, while Scartelli posted spring-best marks of 4:31.92 and 17:13.38 in the 1500m and 5000m run, respectively, to clinch All-Region honors.
A total, of 1915 honors were handed out to athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions, which included a near-even split between men's (951) and women's programs (964).
Both Rossa and Scartelli close out the spring season for the Mammoths this weekend, completing in their respective races at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
