Tichelaar, Jaramillo, Friedman & Madden Team Up to Post New Amherst Record in 4x400m Relay

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Amherst women's track & field team continued to shatter records Saturday, with the Mammoths logging two new personal bests and a new program record at the 2019 New England Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Bowdoin College at the William Farley Field House.

Amherst returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 24 when they compete at the Boston University Final Qualifier. 

RESULTS

  • The Mammoths continued to roll Saturday, with sophomores Ella Rossa and Dana Frishman each advancing out of their prelims to start the day. With a time of 9.04 seconds, Rossa clinched third in the 60m hurdles, while Frishman's jump of 5.33m, a new collegiate best and the fourth best mark in Amherst indoor history, was good for fifth overall in the long jump.
  • On the oval, Christina Scartelli '19 recorded a 4:58.86 mark in the mile for a third place finish. The mark currently sits as the 10th best time in Division III.
  • Posting a new personal best and the fifth best time in Amherst history in the 200m dash, Rubii Tamen '19 crossed the finish line in 26.39 seconds to earn sixth overall.
  • The Mammoths capped off the day with a solid finish in the highly competitive 4x400m relay, with the quartet of Sam Tichelaar '22, Juanita Jaramillo '22, Sophia Friedman '21 and Anna Madden '21 setting a new school record with a time of 3:56.80 (third overall).
