NEW ORLEANS , La. – Senior harrier Danielle Griffin of the Amherst College women's track & field team has been named an U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) outdoor All-Region honoree, as announced by the organization Monday.
The top-five individuals in each event from each of Division III's eight regions (Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West) earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-three relay teams.
With a season-best time of 2:12.03, Griffin clinched an individual All-New England Region nod in the 800 meter event as the Mammoths lone All-Region honoree.
A total of 667 student-athletes from 184 programs across the country earned 940 All-Region honors, with SUNY Geneseo out of the Atlantic region leading all of Division III with 23 All-Region selections.
Williams led the New England region with 22 total honorees. The Ephs were followed in the NESCAC by Middlebury (6), Connecticut College (5), Colby (5), Tufts (5), Hamilton (3), Bates (2), Bowdoin (2), Wesleyan (2) and Amherst (1).
