HADLEY, Mass. – Junior Abbey Asare-Bediako and first-year Katherine Treanor of the Amherst College women's outdoor track & field team have been named to the 2017 All-Conference team, as recently announced by the league office.
The top-three finishers in each event during this past weekend's NESCAC Championship at Bowdoin College garner All-NESCAC recognition. The Mammoths placed seventh at the championship meet, recording 32 total points.
Easily meeting the 44:30.24 women's qualifying standard for the 10,000-meter run, Treanor clocked a time of 36:41.84 to place second overall in championship competition and secure an All-NESCAC nod.
Brittany Bowman of Tufts took the top spot in the event with a 35:37.17 mark, while Emma Herrmann of Williams finished third (36:47.51).
Asare-Bediako garnered her first All-NESCAC laurel thanks to an impressive performance in the triple jump, as the junior recorded a distance of 11.29 meters to place third overall. Candice Dyce of Williams and Sally Ceesay of Bates finished first and second with jumps of 11.82 meters and 11.56 meters, respectively.
Amherst returns to action Friday-Saturday, May 5-6 when they compete in the DIII New England Championships hosted by Williams College.
