Amherst Captures 14th at Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – Amherst College women's outdoor track & field team finished 14th overall at the 22-team Tufts University Snowflake Classic Sunday afternoon. 

Boston University took home the top spot with 119 points, while Tufts and Southern New Hampshire scored 116 and 67 points to capture second and third, respectively. 

Amherst returns to action on Saturday, April 8 when they host the Amherst Spring Fling starting at 11 a.m.


  • Anna Budford highlighted the 100-meter and 200-meter dash for the Purple & White, finishing 16th (13.56) and 15th (27.74) overall in the 58 and 87-runner events, respectively.
  • In the 400-meter dash, Jenny Mazella placed 14th behind a time of 1:04.90.
  • Christina Scartelli and Kaeli Mathias crossed the finish line back-to-back in the 800-meter run, with Scartelli notching 23rd with a mark of 2:29.54 and Mathias finishing 24th with a time of 2:30.07.
  • Charting top-six finishes in the 1,500-meter run, Katherine Treanor took fifth overall (4:52.21) while Savanna Gornisiewicz clinched sixth (4:53.85).
  • Running in the 400-meter hurdles, Danielle Griffin posted a time of 1:12.03 to place eighth.
  • Kristin Ratliff rounded out Amherst's top performances in the track events, logging a fourth place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:03.82. 


  •  In the high jump, Kaitlyn Siegel secured 4th overall, recording a height of 1.58 meters.
