AMHERST, Mass. – Katherine Treanor '20, Abbey Asare-Bediako '18 and Kiana Herold '17 of the Amherst College women's indoor track & field team are set to compete at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Recording a season-best time of 17:20.43, Treanor qualified as the No. 15 seed in the 5,000-meter run. Felicia Koerner of Johns Hopkins owns the top-seed with a seed time of 16:41.95, while the final qualifying time for the event was 17:21.95.
With a seed mark of 11.82 meters, Asare-Bediako enters national competition as the seventh-ranked student-athlete in the triple jump. Wis. Platteville jumper Amber Williams sits in the No. 1 spot with a 12.33 meter seed mark, while the final qualifier in the 17-woman event posted a distance of 11.50 meters.
Qualifying for the high jump, Herold owns the 16th-seed with height of 1.69 meters. Emma Egan of Williams holds the top position in the event, entering Nationals with a season high mark of 1.76 meters.
The 5,000-meter run begins on Friday at 4 p.m. Triple jump and high jump competition starts on Saturday, with the triple jump kicking off at 10 a.m. and the high jump set to start at 1 p.m.
