NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Amherst College women's track & field team earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors as recently announced by the organization.
In total, there were 112 men's teams and 175 women's teams honored by the Association for success in the classroom and in competition. Amherst, which totaled a team grade-point average of 3.52, was one of nine NESCAC teams to earn the distinction, and finished fourth behind Middlebury College and Wesleyan University who tied for the conference lead with a team GPA of 3.58, and Middlebury College which posted a mark of 3.56.
The Purple & White finished third of nine teams at the 2016 Amherst Outdoor Invitational on April 9, and posted a 19th place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Championships hosted by Springfield College on May 7. At the ECAC Division III Indoor Championships (March 4-5), Amherst registered a 31st place mark of 50 teams, while the Purple & White tied for 35th of 60 squads at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships (May 18-19) to cap the 2015-16 campaign.
