SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Three members of the Amherst College women's track & field team competed in day one action at the 2015 ECAC Division III Championships Thursday at the Blake Track on the campus of Springfield College.
Lizzy Briskin '15 and Savanna Gornisiewicz '17 finished sixth and eighth in the 5,000-meter run, respectively, to earn the Jeffs four points. Briskin crossed the finish line in 17:29.31, while Gornisiewicz finished shortly after in 17:34.73.
With four points after day one, Amherst sits 23rd overall in the 33-team field. Rowan leads the way with 34 points, followed by MIT with 29 and Wellesley with 24. Geneseo State recorded 23 points to claim fourth, while Ithaca earned 18.50 to sit fifth. Williams leads all seven NESCAC schools with nine points to place 11th.
Also competing in day one action was Abbey Asare-Bediak '18. The first-year finished 12th overall in the triple jump with 11.13 meters.
The Purple & White return to the track Friday, May 15 for day two of the ECAC meet.
