BOSTON, Mass. – The Amherst College women's outdoor track & field team placed in a tie for 28th at the 2015 NEICAAA Championships hosted by MIT in Boston, Mass.
Southern Connecticut State won the meet with 72 points, followed by host MIT in second with 68 points. The University of New Haven finished in a tie for third with Boston College with a score of 63, while the University of New Hampshire rounded out the top five with a score of 57.50. Amherst notched six points along with Bowdoin College and Rhode Island College to tie for 28th place in the field of 41 scoring teams.
In the 5,000-meter run, Savanna Gornisiewicz '17 clocked a time of 17:23.46 and finished sixth overall, just ahead of Lizzy Briskin '15 who notched a time of 17:23.89 and finished in seventh place. Gornisiewicz and Briskin logged three and two points respectively for the Jeffs in the event.
In the 4x800 relay, the team of Keelin Moehl '16, Hannah Herrera '17, Leonie Rauls '18 and Kelli Ellingson '15 finished first in the section two race and eighth overall to score one point for the Purple & White. The squad logged a time of 9:21.25 to round out Amherst's scoring in the meet.
Amherst returns to action at the ECAC Championships Friday-Saturday, May 15-16.
