Jeffs Claim Six First Place Finishes at Wesleyan Swanson Classic

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Amherst College women's outdoor track and field team claimed six first place finishes Saturday afternoon at the Wesleyan University Swanson Classic.

Taylor Summers '16 highlighted the day for the Jeffs, as the junior claimed the 100 meter dash and the long jump. She paced the field in the 100m with a time of 12.56, and earned the win in the long jump with a leap of 5.25m. Amherst swept the event as Kiana Herold '17 and Louise Atadja '16 took second (4.97m) and third (4.70m), respectively. 

In other field events, Herold claimed the high jump with a jump of 1.72m and Abbey Asare-Bediako '18 took first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.05m. Becki Golia '18 also excelled in the high jump and finished second (1.57m). 

Amherst also received first place finishes from Karen Blake '17 and Tess Frenzel '17. Blake took home the top spot in the 200 meter with a time of 24.92, and Frenzel paced the 5,000 meter event with a mark of 19:29.76.

The Jeffs return to the track a week from today as they prepare for the 2015 NESCAC Championships Saturday, April 25.
