Amherst tied with four other schools with six points in the 67-team field including Christopher Newport, George Fox, SUNY Oneonta and NESCAC rival Bowdoin. Wisconsin-La Crosse won the national title with 55 points, followed by Wisconsin-Oshkosh (49) and Illinois-Wesleyan (39) rounding out the top three teams.
Amherst sophomore Kiana Herold, who qualified for the NCAA championships with a 1.69-meter mark at the Springfield College Invitational earlier this season, matched that jump on Saturday morning to place third in the event.
Two other Jeffs competed on Saturday as Lexi Sinclair '16 and Lizzy Briskin '15 each ran in the 3000-meter race. Sinclair and Briskin, who entered as the No. 8 and No. 14 entries, posted respective times of 10:08.90 and 10:14.05 to finish 12th and 14th overall.
Friday's 5000-meter run which was under review resulted in no times being awarded due to a lap counting error. Team points were based on where leaders began stopping at 4800 meters. Savanna Gornisiewicz '17 competed in the event and finished in the 14th slot.
