BOSTON, Mass. – The Amherst College women's indoor track and field team recorded three top-10 finishes at the 2015 NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Boston University Friday and Saturday.
The Jeffs finished 19th overall in the 38-team field consisting of Division I, II and III programs. Northeastern won the event with a score of 81, followed by Southern Connecticut State (78) and the University of New Haven (60). Amherst recorded 11 points behind Wesleyan, who notched 12.
Highlighting the two-day meet were Savanna Gornisiewicz '17 and Lexi Sinclair '16 with fourth-place finishes in their respective events. Gornisiewicz took fourth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 17:15.44 and Sinclair paced the Jeffs in the 3000 meter run with a mark of 9:49.98. Lizzy Briskin '15 and Nicky Roberts '18 also competed in the run and finished 13th (10:02.51) and 22nd (10:15.59), respectively.
In field events, Kiana Herold '17 placed eighth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters.
The Jeffs also picked up two top-10 finishes Friday in preliminaries as Kelli Ellingson '15 finished ninth in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:58.71, and Karen Blake '17 took 10th in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 25:33.
Amherst returns to the track Friday, March 6 for the two-day ECAC Championships.
