Jeffs Compete at David Hemery Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Amherst College women's indoor track & field team competed at the 2015 David Hemery Valentine Invitational Friday, hosted by Boston University.

The annual meet consists of athletes from Division I, II and III programs. Highlighting the day for the Purple & White was Karen Blake '17. The sophomore finished 16th overall in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.82 seconds. She also crossed the finish line in the 200 meter dash in 25.49 seconds. Blake placed 50th overall in the 228-person field.

Kelli Ellingson '15 and Olivia Tarantino '15 ran the 1,000 meter run in 3:01.87 and 3:05.16, respectively and rounding out the top performances from the Jeffs in track events were Lexi Sinclair '16 and Savanna Gornisiewicz '17 in the 3,000 meter run. Sinclair finished 42nd overall with a time of 9:56.42, while Gornisiewicz crossed the line in 10:07.78.

In field events, first-year Becki Golia claimed 23rd overall in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters.

The Jeffs return to the track Saturday, Feb. 21 for the Division III New England Championships at Smith College.
