BOSTON, Mass. - Naomi Bates '14 and Kiana Herold '17 recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the 60-meter dash and high jump to lead the Amherst women's track & field team to a solid showing at Tufts University's Cupid Challenge.
Bates finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.85, while Sarah Whelan '17 came in 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.06. Separated by less than a second, teammates Keelin Moehl '16 and Victoria Hensley '16 were fifth (1:41.31) and sixth (1:42.17) in the 600-meter run, while Olivia Tarantino '15 was seventh in the 800m event (2:24.46).
Sarah Foster '16 and Savanna Gornisiewicz '17 were fifth and 15th in the 1000m run, clocking in at 3:08.08 and 3:18.31, respectively. Amy Dao '14 led Amherst in the mile run, finishing fourth with a time of 5:09.83, while the Jeffs put three runners in the top-10 of the 3000-meter run. Lizzy Briskin '15 led the way as the event's runner-up with a time of 10:22.82, while Jessica Kaliski '15 and Cat Lowdon '17 came in sixth (10:44.73) and 10th (11:00.84).
Lisa Walker '14 and Betsy Black '16 were fifth (18:45.81) and 10th (19:14.23) in the 5000-meter run, while Kiana Herold '17 was second in the high jump (1.62m). Also competing in the field events, Taylor Summers '16 was seventh in the long jump (4.98m), with teammate Louise Atadja '16 taking 15th with a leap of 4.57m.
The Jeffs return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Springfield College.
