AMHERST, Mass. – Naomi Bates '14 picked up wins in the 200-meter dash, long jump and triple jump as the Amherst women's track & field team finished third at the 2014 Little Three Championships.
Williams took home the team title with 150 points, followed by Wesleyan (119) and Amherst (100). The Jeffs return to action on Saturday, Apr. 26 at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Colby College.
Posting the fastest time in the 200-meter dash, Bates crossed the finish line in 25.19, edging out teammate Taylor Summers '16 (26.30). Bates and Summers also finished one-two in the long jump with leaps of 5.82m and 5.38m, respectively, with Bates also rising to the top of the podium in the triple jump (11.30m).
Joining Shyloe Jones '14 and Karen Blake '17 in the 4x100 relay, Summers and Bates helped the Jeffs record a winning time of 48.60. Also impressing in the 100-meter dash, Blake placed first overall after turning in the second-fastest time in Division III this season (12.01). Fellow first-year Kiana Herold '17 also earned a win for Amherst, taking the high jump with leap of 1.64m.
Victoria Hensley '16 was second runner-up in the 400m (1:00.29), while Olivia Tarantino '15 and Betsy Black '16 came in third and second in the 1500-meter run (4:54.92) and 3000-meter steeplechase (12:00.51), respectively. Hannah Herrera '17 and Keelin Moehl '16 recorded a pair of top-three finishes in the 800m with times of 2:20.32 and 2:21.19.
