EASTON, Mass. - Led by Keri Lambert '13, the Amherst women's track & field team put together a solid showing, placing 14th out of 35 Division I, II and III programs at the All-New England Championships hosted by Stonehill College.
Shaving over 10 seconds off her NESCAC Championship time of 10:36.83, which was the nation's second-best time as of May 6, Lambert clocked in at 10:26.16 on Saturday, shattering her personal record. Laura Rose Donegan of Division I New Hampshire, finished second in the event with a time of 10:36.65.
Lauren Almeida '13 also turned in a strong performance, earning the Jeffs a pair of team points in the 1500-meter run. Coming in seventh in a field of 30 runners, she crossed the finish line in 4:35.43, just over three-tenths of a second behind Middlebury's Alison Maxwell. Keelin Moehl '16 placed 17th in the 800m run with a time of 2:18.78.
Leading Amherst in the field events, Naomi Bates '14 was the runner-up in the long jump with a distance of 5.91m. The junior also competed in the 200m dash, finishing 11th with a time of 25.45.
Rhode Island took home the team title with a score of 91.50, followed by UMass-Amherst (80) and UMass-Lowell (80) in second. New Haven took fourth (60.50), with Northeastern rounding out the top-five (57.50).
