SOUTH HADLEY, Mass – Amherst College track and field All-American Keri Lambert '13 was named NESCAC Performer of the Week on Monday after starting her 2013 outdoor season with a bang at Saturday's Tufts Snowflake Classic.

Dominating a 33-person field in the 5,000 meters, Lambert won in 17 minutes, 3.87 seconds at Tufts, posting the nation's second-fastest time of the young outdoor season in the event. She pulled far ahead of the field, crossing the line nearly 47 seconds ahead of second-place Lilly Fisher of Tufts (17:50.67) as her efforts helped Amherst place seventh out of 23 Division I, II and III programs at the event.

Lambert's performance continued an already-strong year in the 5k, as she garnered All-America honors in the event with a sixth-place finish at the Indoor National Championships in Naperville, Ill. earlier in March. The Amherst native placed seventh in the race at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, but her time Saturday was nearly 12 seconds quicker than the 17:15.73 mark which earned her All-America honors in her last time competing in the event outdoors.

Lambert did not participate in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Tufts, the event in which she claimed the NCAA individual title last spring. She and the Jeffs will be back in action on Saturday, April 6, at American International College's Invitational meet in Springfield.
