NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The 25th-ranked Amherst College women's indoor track and field team won 12 events Saturday morning at Smith College's Tartan Invitational, giving the Lord Jeffs a convincing first-place finish.
Amherst earned 278 points and was followed by Smith (156), Mount Holyoke (126) and Wellesley (69). The Lord Jeffs will return to action next Friday for the Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
Naomi Bates '14 once again stood out for Amherst by winning four events. Her best performance came in the 60-meter dash, as her winning time of 7.86 seconds was good enough for a personal best and an NCAA provisional qualifying cut.

Teammate Jess Mueller '13 placed second in both the triple jump (10.22m) and the high jump (1.43m), while Jordan Roehl '12 was third in the shot put (10.61m).
