NCAA's - Mar 15th

Performer of the Meet - Elise Tropiano'09

Ohio Northern played host to the NCAA Division III Championships March 14 - 15th, and Heather Wilson and Elise Tropiano went out to Ohio in search of returning with All-American accolades for the 2nd year in a row in the 5000m. Despite having a 4 x 400 and a DMR that qualified provisionally, and Peter Harrison provisionally qualified in the Mile, Heather and Elise were the only ones that made the the cut. Last year, the duo finished 7th (Elise) and 8th (Heather) at the Indoor Championships in the 5k. This years race was quite a bit different then last years, as the pace was very fast right from the very start. Heather went with the early leaders, while Elise laid off the early pace but was still at the front of the 2nd pack, as they went through the first mile in 5:15 for Heather and 5:24 for Elise. In the 2nd mile, Heather was still in contention for Top 3-4 as she went through in 10:57 while Elise was at 11:04 but the quick early pace started to take its toll on those who had gone with it. Running the last few laps together, both Elise and Heather were able to hold on to the final 2 All-American spots (Top 8 earn the honors) as they would replicate their feat from last year, in finishing 7th and 8th. For each of the runners, this was their 5th All-American performance and a great cap to the indoor season.
