A pair of Amherst College student-athletes earned the prestigious honor, with junior Elise Tropiano and senior Heather Wilson each landing a spot on the District 1 Second Team for the college division.

    Amherst College sent four student-athletes to the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which took place on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Competition at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh kicked off Thursday, May 22 and concluded this afternoon, with the Lord Jeffs earning a trio of top-10 finishes.

    Amherst College will be sending four student-athletes to the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are set to take place on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Competition at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is set to kick off Thursday, May 22 at noon, with the final event beginning Saturday, May 24 at 4:55 p.m.

  • Heather Wilson Wins 10,000-meter Run to Lead Jeffs at Open New Englands

    The Amherst College outdoor track and field teams competed against schools from Division I, II and III at the Open New England Championships, but senior Heather Wilson was still able to dominate the 10,000-meter Run. The Amherst women tied for ninth place thanks in large part to Wilson, who won the 10k with a time of 35:41.28, finishing more than 52 seconds ahead the runner up from Boston College.
  • Elise Tropiano Named Outdoor Track Performer of the Week

    Amherst College junior Elise Tropiano (Plainview, NY) has been named the NESCAC Women’s Track Performer of the Week for her outstanding performances at this past weekend’s Division III New England Championship held at the United States Coast Guard Academy. Tropiano is the first member of the Lord Jeff outdoor track and field teams to earn the honor this season.
  • Amherst Performs Well at Division III New England Championships

    The Amherst College outdoor track and field teams placed first in six events at the 2008 Division III New England Championships held at the United States Coast Guard Academy, as the Lord Jeff men placed 11th in a field of 26 teams and the women placed second in a field of 28. Amherst dominated the women’s distance events, finishing first in the 5k, 10k and Steeplechase events.

The top three finishers in each event during the championship, hosted by Hamilton College on Apr. 26, receive All-Conference recognition, with 10 members of the Amherst College teams claiming the honor this year.

Williams College has won the last seven NESCAC Women’s Track & Field titles and 15 overall, while the Men’s Track & Field crown was shared for the first time in championship history by the Ephs and Tufts University last April.
