DECATUR, IL - Amherst College junior Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA/Collegiate School) earned her 12th All-America award and collected her third-ever national championship by winning the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Millikin University on Thursday afternoon.

Hamill is a two-time indoor 5,000-meter national champion, winning the event as a first-year in 2002 and reclaiming the title this past winter. Thursday's time of 36:04.21 bested runner-up Melissa St. Clair of Elizabethtown College by more than 15 seconds - St. Clair crossed the tape at 36:19.96.

Hamill will vie for a fourth national title on Saturday as one of the favorites at 5,000 meters, where she'll be joined by Amherst first-year Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA/Thomas Jefferson) and senior co-captain Aly Venti (Newton, MA/Newton South). Garrahan will also compete in Friday's steeplechase.
