Women 16th, Men 25th at Open New England Championships

NORTHAMPTON & BOSTON, MA - The Amherst women's and men's indoor track teams pulled in respectable finishes at their respective Open New England Championship Meets over the weekend, heading into next weekend's ECAC Championships at Tufts University. At Smith College, the women placed 16th in a strong field, led by first-place Northeastern University. Williams College finished in seventh place. For Amherst, sophomore standout Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) picked up fourth place in the 3,000-meter run, two seconds behind Eph runner Caroline Cretti. The 4x800-meter relay team came through for second place, six seconds ahead of the Williams delegation. 

The men picked up 25th place in their meet, hosted by Boston University. The University of Connecticut came away with a dominant win, and host Northeastern University finished third. Williams came in at 14th place, ahead of 16th-place Bowdoin College. For Amherst, the Distance Medley squad took home third place in its section.
