AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College men's and women's outdoor track teams each took home second place finishes in the Little Three Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon. Williams College recorded a pair of victories as the women's team recorded 160.50 points, while the men posted 158. Wesleyan University was at the bottom of the pack with a pair of third place finishes.
Five different women won events for the host Jeffs. Junior Laurel Kilgour (Clifton Park, NY) notched a victory in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 2:22.17. Senior Rebecca Woo (Manchester, NH) recorded the top finish in the 1,500-meter. First-year Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) posted a time of 17:20.80 to take the 5,000-meter. Senior Anne Perez (Chappaqua, NY) took home the discus throw with a toss of 12.94. First-year Lee-Jay Henry (Springfield, MA) grabbed the top spot in a pair of events, taking the 100-meter high hurdles and the triple jump.
For the men, sophomore Janak Chandrasoma (Pasadena, CA) notched a victory in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line at 50.64. First-year Jason Wagstaff (Tewksbury, MA) snagged first place, launching the javelin 43.60 meters, just ahead of Williams' Matt Holland, who posted a 43.48 toss. The men also teamed up to win the 4x400-meter relay, edging Williams by less than a second.
Amherst returns to action Saturday, April 27th for the NESCAC Championships at Bates College.
