MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Camille Smukler '20, Maggie Owensby '22, and Anya Ramras '22 advanced to day three action but saw their championship run come to an end after falling in the semifinals of the 2019 ITA New England Regionals Sunday afternoon.
Smukler was the last player in Purple & White for the singles draw and matched up against Serim Jin of Wesleyan in the morning. Jin, who went on to clinch the championship, halted the Mammoths impressive run with 6-2 scorelines in both sets. Jin went on to beat Katie Fleischman (Wesleyan) 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles, Owensby and Ramras were also shut down in their first match after Venia Yeung and Caitlyn Ferrante advanced to the finals with an 8-5 decision over the Mammoths. Yeung and Ferrante dropped 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 to champions Kristina Yu and Sophie Henderson.
The Mammoths are back in action on October 5th when they host Williams College in their opening dual match of the season. Last year, the Mammoths took down the Ephs 6-3 which was their first time since spring season 2014.
