All-Conference Pair Turns NCAA Semifinalists

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The 2018 NCAA Women's Tennis season wrapped up on Saturday at Biszantz Family Tennis Center, and for the second straight day, Amherst boasted semifinalists in a national draw.

Anya Ivenitsky '20 and Avery Wagman '18 ended their run in the NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Tournament with a 6-2, 6-0 loss in the semifinals round.

The defeat came at the hands of familiar foes Julia Cancio and Juli Ravenots of Williams College, who went on to win the national championship.

It was the second meeting of the week between these two doubles squads. Cancio and Raventos also earned a win during the team's quarterfinals matchup in the team championships, where Williams defeated Amherst 5-1.

Three of the four women's doubles semifinalists came from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), where Ivenitsky and Wagman earned All-Conference accolades as a doubles team.

Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu of Wesleyan were runners-up to the pair from Williams.
