SKILLMAN, N.J. – Amherst College first-year Camille Smukler of the women's tennis team has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Northeast Region Rookie of the Year and a Singles All-American, as announced recently by the organization.

The ITA recognized 24 singles players and 40 doubles players (20 pairs) with All-America honors. To earn ITA All-America distinction, a student-athlete must be a top-eight seed in NCAA singles tournament, win one round at NCAA singles tournament, finish in the Top 20 in the final Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, win the USTA/ITA fall regional tournament or win a first round match at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships.

Raking in the accolades following a sensational 2016-17 campaign, Smukler adds ITA Northeast Rookie of the Year and Singles All-America to a growing list of honors that previously included All-NESCAC Second Team (singles, doubles) and NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

A Villanova, Pa. native, Smukler recorded a 9-9 overall ledger playing all but one of her dual singles matches from the first court for the 14th-ranked Mammoths and closes out her debut season as the No. 15 singles student-athlete in the nation according to the final ITA DIII rankings (June 1).
