AMHERST, Mass. – The 12th-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team has been selected as an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Championship and is set to travel to Regional host Middlebury College for First, Second and Third Round action this weekend, May 11-14 at the Proctor Tennis Courts.
The Mammoths, owning a 6-9 record on the season, earned a First Round bye and will face the winner of the Skidmore (12-7) and Elizabethtown (13-4) match on either May 12 or 13. NESCAC foe Middlebury (14-4) also received an opening round bye and will take the court against either SUNY Geneseo (9-1) or Farmingdale State (14-4).
Amherst returns to the national postseason tournament for the 23rd consecutive season, and has received a first round bye for the 14th year in a row. Appearing in 22 NCAA Championships, the Mammoths are 59-26 all-time, including a national championship in 1991 and five national runner-up finishes (2004, '07, '09, '11, '14).
