SKILLMAN, N.J. – Amherst College women's tennis players Sue Ghosh '16 and Vickie Ip '18 were each named 2015 All-Americans in both singles and doubles action as recently announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Ghosh and Ip excelled in 2014-15, helping Amherst post a 17-5 overall record, a 5-2 mark in NESCAC action, a league championship final appearance, and a run to the program's seventh consecutive NCAA Division III semifinals. The Jeffs capped their season with a 5-1 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the consolation final, and earned a national ranking of third at season's end.
In doubles play, Ghosh and Ip earned First Team All-NESCAC honors, while Ip was named First Team All-NESCAC in singles action and logged a record of 16-11 overall. Ghosh tabbed second team all-conference laurels for the second consecutive season and finished with a 21-8 ledger. As a tandem, Ghosh and Ip finished the campaign with an overall mark of 22-10.
In the NCAA individual championships, Ghosh, playing as an alternate in the round of 32, earned a pair of victories to advance to the final eight, while Ip narrowly lost in the round of 32. In doubles play, Ghosh and Ip won their round of 16 match, but were eliminated in the round of eight.
Ip and Ghosh finished 15th and 18th respectively in the final ITA singles rankings; together they finished fourth overall in the final doubles rankings.
