WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The third-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team fell to No. 1 Williams College in NESCAC and Little Three action Saturday afternoon in Williamstown, Mass.
With the loss, Amherst sees its 10-match winning streak halted as the Jeffs move to 10-2 on the season, 4-1 in league play, while Williams improves to 14-0, 4-0 in NESCAC action.
Amherst picked up its lone win of the match from the No. 1 doubles court as the combination of Sue Ghosh '16 and Vickie Ip '18 won 8-3. Maddy Sung '16 and Jacqueline Calla '17 fell, 8-4 on the No. 2 court, while Sarah Monteagudo '16 and Safi Aly '15 were edged by Williams on court No. 3, 9-8.
The Ephs went on to sweep singles play in straight sets from all six courts, never allowing the Jeffs to score more than four points in any set.
Amherst returns to NESCAC and Little Three action Sunday, April 19 at Wesleyan University at 2 p.m.
