WALTHAM, Mass. – The No. 4 Amherst College women's tennis team won its seventh straight match with a 7-2 victory over Brandeis University Saturday in Waltham, Mass. in day two action of the fourth annual Nor'Easter Bowl.
With the win, Amherst improves to 7-1 overall, while Brandeis moves to 4-8 on the season.
Amherst took an early 3-0 lead in the match sweeping doubles action as Vickie Ip '18 and Sue Ghosh '16 won 8-4 from the No. 1 court to get things started. Jacqueline Calla '17 and Maddy Sung '16 were victorious on the No. 2 court (8-3), while Safi Aly '15 and Sarah Monteagudo '16 earned an 8-5 win on the No. 3 court.
In singles action, Ghosh won on the No. 2 court, 6-2, 6-2, while Brandeis earned wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts with Carley Cooke (4-6, 6-3, 6-3 over Ip) and Simone Vandroff (6-3, 7-6 (7-5) over Calla).
Amherst is back in action Tuesday, April 7 when it hosts Trinity College at 4 p.m.
