WATERVILLE, Maine - The No. 4 Amherst College women's tennis team swept doubles and notched an 8-1 victory over NESCAC rival Colby College Sunday afternoon in Waterville, Maine.
With the win, Amherst has now won five straight matches, and improves to 5-1 overall. Colby moves to 5-8 on the season.
From the doubles courts, Maddy Sung '16 and Rebecca L. Pol '16 won 8-2 on the No. 1 court, while the first-year tandem of Avery Wagman and Jenna Peng won, 8-2 from the No. 2 court. On the No. 3 court, Adrienne Irmer '18 and Lola Fadulu '17 also secured an 8-2 victory over the Mules.
In singles action, Claire Carpenter '17 earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory on the No. 1 court, while Sung, Wagman and Peng each earned wins from the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 courts. Colby picked up its lone victory on the No. 5 court, while Fadulu closed out the Jeffs' triumph with an 8-4 win from the No. 6 court.
Amherst returns to action Friday, April 3 at Babson College at 3 p.m.
