SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. – The No. 4 Amherst College women's tennis team posted a hard-fought, 4-3 victory over NCAA Division I University of Connecticut on Tuesday, March 17 in San Clemente, Calif.
The win improved Amherst to 2-1 overall, while UConn moved to 8-7 on the season.
UConn swept the three doubles matches, but playing by Division I rules, the Huskies received just one point.
In singles action, Sue Ghosh '16 defeated Emma Alderman, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 from the No. 2 court, while Sarah Monteagudo '16 defeated Summer Walker from the No. 4 court with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. On the No. 5 court Megan Adamo '17 bested Zaina Zaki, 6-1, 6-4 on the No. 5 court, while Claire Carpenter '17 picked up a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory in the No. 6 position.
The Purple & White returns to action on March 19 at Chapman College.
